A Birthday Card and a Mess!

Last night was my first Technique Class. It went pretty well. I think all the ladies had a good time and also learned a few things. We did 4 projects, Heat Embossing, Emboss Resist, Cracked Glass and Poppin' Pastels. I'm kind of undecided what we'll do for next month, but I'll keep you posted. Here are some pictures of the mess we all made. I actually had 6 people, but didn't break out the camera till late, and my sister Tara and her friend Myrna had already left (sorry, Tara). My husband Sam came home about 9:30 and decided to cook a steak on the grill, so I had to snap a picture of him with his apron. I forgot to turn the picture before I uploaded it, and now can't seem to fix it. Sorry!!

Today I made a card for my Father-in-laws 60th birthday. Here is what I came up with. Ok, I really need to figure out how to rearrange the way the pictures show up on here. Can anyone help me? They just show up where ever they want, and then my print doesn't match up. Well, back to the card. I thought since he drives a pick up truck, it would be cute to put the 60 in the back of the truck, but of course you don't want the 6 to fall off while he's driving down the road, so I tied it on with some twine. All supplies are Stampin' UP! What do you think?
Well, I should probably go get some real work done, so I'll see you guys later.

My Stamp Room

Well, I know it is Tuesday and I haven't posted any new creations, but I have been busy. Today was our 2nd day of school, and so far, so good. Although, I must admit it has only been half days since my order of school books hasn't come in yet. On Sat. I cleaned my stamp room. It was a total disaster. There was not one surface that you could see. Really. Now it is all neat and tidy. I only have one "before" picture, but luckily Have more "after" pictures, so you can wee what hard work I did. In just a little while I'm off to Lisa's house to do some last minute prep work for my Technique Class this Friday. I also have to run by Staple's to pick up my catty which I had spiral bound. Maybe I'll show you a picture of it! Well, I hope to get some new creations done tonight, so stay tuned till later.

The New Catalog is Here!!

If anyone was wondering, yes, the new catty is here!! If you would like your own copy there are a couple ways to do that. 1) If you host your own Stampin' Up! workshop, the catty is yours to keep as a thank you gift. 2) If you place an order of $150 you qualify as a workshop and the catty is yours to keep, along with all the great benefits of being a hostess! 3) If you place an order of at least $50 before the last day of Sept. you can purchase the catty at half price ($4.98). I must say, the new stamps, papers, and punches are so beautiful. My wish list is soooooooo long! Well, gotta go get some work done.

Sorry it's been so long :(

Hello everyone! I'm sorry it's been so long since I posted anything. I really do intend to keep up with posting at least every other day! I've been trying to get stuff together to start the school year. We thought the kids were going to school this year, but alas, we are homeschooling yet again. We'll be starting school this coming Monday. Anyway, last week I was able to get some scrapbooking done. These pictures are from our Annual Baker Family Camping Trip :)

Well, I thought the pictures would be underneath my message, but since I don't know how to move them, I'll leave them there. These are all 12 x 12 double page layouts. When I saw the pictures, I instanly knew I wanted to use the Summer Days Simply Scrappin' Kit by SU! The colors were just perfect and it's so bright and cheery. I really like the Hawaiian looking flowers, since most of the swimming trunks have that same look.
I'm really looking forward to our upcoming Technique Class. If you're interested, give me a call and let me know by Monday. I need to prepare for the correct amount of people. Well I guess that's about it, so I'll talk at you later!

Thank you, Susie!!

I have looked for these stick people to put on my van for quite a while. I finally found out you can get them at the mall in Columbia. So, when my Sis-in-law, Susie drive through on her way back to NY (with my long lost Sammy), she picked them up for me. I love 'em. They are the perfect!! Of course there's Dad and Mom, them Sammy who loves to go hunting, Bubba really likes baseball, and then our little Princess Amanda, who loves to carry a purse.
Tomorrow I pick up Sammy from Savannah airport, I can't wait to see him. He's probably grown a couple inches already. But for now I'm off to get some housework done and dinner on, we have friends coming for supper. See you soon, Sammy!!

Sammy, come home!!

This is the card I mailed off to Sammy yesterday. I hope it gets there in time. We're supposed to pick him up from the airport on Wed. afternoon. It will be nice to have him home again, and then we have 5 days to get ready for school.
The stamp set is All About U (retired) colors are Not Quite Navy and Pumpkin Pie. The ribbon is white grosgrain which I colored with my Pumpkin Pie marker. Striped paper is something I picked up at the local scrapbook store (I know--shame on me!!) I embossed the U with 3 layers of Crystal Clear Embossing Powder. I hope the hearts at the botttom aren't too "girly" to send to a boy. I don't think he'll mind.
Well that's all for now. See ya later!

Technique Class Aug. 29, 2008

These first 2 cards are Heat Embossed.
See how the close up of enjoy is shiny?
Next is the friend card. This is showing Emboss Resist. Then we have the Warm Wishes card. This is using the Cracked Glass technique. See the close up of the flower? It looks "cracked."
The last technique, which I don't have a picture of is called Poppin' Pastels.

These are the cards for our first Techniqe Class. The fee is $12, and you'll make these cards, plus a sample sheet with instructions for each technique. Class is Aug. 29 from 6-9 pm. Contact me as soon as possible if you'd like to come, so I can prepare the correct amount of supplies. Please be sure to bring your own adhesive and a paper trimmer with a scoring blade if you have one.

I hope this all posts correctly, I don't know how to rearrange elements on the page yet. Please bear with all the wonky posts until I figure out how this computer stuff works.

You can also view these project on my Stampin' Up! website here. (As soon as I figure out how to post them!)

Thanks for looking!! Have a great day!

Inspiration and some good news!

Well, here is the first post that actually has to do with something I stamped. The first picture is Amanda's skirt. One day she had it on and I suddenly thought, "Her skirt is Certainly Celery, Real Red, Barely Banana and Bashful Blue! That would make a pretty card." So what did I do? I made a card! The flowers are done with Emboss Resist. All supplies are Stampin' Up!

Now for the good news. I have been trying to figure out how to sell some of my handmade cards and items to make a little extra $$. Well, yesterday I was following up on some leads of stores on Bay Street I had talked to a couple weeks ago. Doodlebug, a high end children's store has agreed to sell my cards on commission!! I was so excited! So, if any of you live in the Beaufort, SC area, head on over to Doodlebug on Bay Street and check it out!!

Meet my Kids!

Hello everyone!! I think I'm getting the hang of putting these pictures on here. This first picture is of my oldest, Sammy when we went camping in July. He went fishing everyday, and this is just one of the catfish he caught. Grandpa Baker cleaned it right up and he went into our Catfish Jumbalaya. (Hope I spelled that right.) Sammy's in New York right now visiting with his Aunt Susie, Uncle Mark and cousings Haley and Ryan. I sure do miss him, but he'll be back on Aug. 13. Can't wait to see him at the airport. The next picture is at the YMCA pool last Friday. We have my other two kids, Amand and Bubba, along with my
nieces, Christa, Caitlin, Emily and Carolina. They all had a blast at the pool.
Here is my girl Amanda. She loves to swim, talk, sing and dance. Her newest thing is lip syncing to an old Disney record. It was mine when I was a kid. Her favorites are the "Bear Necessities" and "I Want to be a Mancub" from the Jungle Book.
This is Bubba. He's the crazy one. Yesterday he bought a kite at Goodwill, and rather than run to make it fly, he got on his bike and rode with the kite flying behind him. I wish I had gotten a picture of that. He loves to jump on the trampoline, and he is quite the acrobat.

Well, that's all I have for now. I'll talk to you later!!

Linked on Split Coast Stampers!!

In case I have any readers yet (yea right!!) I wanted to let you know I have figured out how to put a link to my blog in my signature line at SplitCoastStampers. Now I have to figure out how to link to SCS from my blog. It really is fun messing around and trying to figure out this computer stuff. The hard part is remembering how I did it when it does work!! I'll try and post pictures of some stamping stuff later. I'm off to the dentis with Amanda for her first X-rays and cleaning.
